Oscars 2021: Predictions!

It’s April and we’re still talking about Oscars predictions! That’s what the pandemic has done to the awards season, which will come to an end on April 25th, with the Academy Awards ceremony!

The details of the ceremony are still being kept under wraps, but part of it will take place in person in LA. It’s safe to say that it will be different from past years!

The competition itself is also different, with the acting categories for Lead Actress and Supporting Actress still up for grabs. There hasn’t been a clear winner in either category this whole award season. Yuh-Jung Youn has recently become the favorite in her category, after winning the BAFTA and the SAG Award, but she’s not a safe bet yet.

The lead actress category is a completely different story, with different nominees winning each of the awards that have been given out so far: Viola Davis won the SAG Award, Frances McDormand won the BAFTA, Carey Mulligan won the Critics Choice Award, and Andra Day won the Golden Globe.

Chloé Zao is set to make history by being the second woman ever (and the first woman of Asian descent) to win the Best Director category. Daniel Kaluuya and Chadwick Boseman have been sweeping all awards this season, so it’s very likely they’ll win on Sunday as well. Chadwick Boseman’s main competition is Anthony Hopinks, who won the BAFTA.

Here are our predictions for the main categories:
